ive seen alot of the "should i keep my hydro fans" threads, and what not. I want to keep my hyrdo fans, that not whats in question. What im wondering, has anyone used the hydro fans with and aftermarket Rad, like an aluminum 3 core Griffin, or a koyo, something along those lines. I dont see a reason for it to not work. Just looking for some input

The Koyo for the MkIII IS designed to work with the 1JZ Hydrofan setup...it has the hole in it for the temp sensor probe already.

^Correct. Most members with a 1JZ keeping the hydraulic fan setup use the Koyo radiator with the provision for the temp sensor.

I have a Koyo/hydro fan setup in my car.

You may have problems mounting the fan to the Griffin. The temperature sensor can be placed in the radiator hose . There are adaptors you can use.

The hydro fan set up is a very good choice if you have one in great shape. If you are going to run 400 plus hp I highly recommend it as you will generate more heat. I recently switched from new Flex a lite fans to the hydro set up because my engine bay would get pretty hot after some hard runs and the electric fans could not handle it especially with the AC on. With the hydro set up my Ac blows cooler and in 100 degree temp in traffic the guage does not even budge. I also run mine with a Koyo radiator.

not only that but it doesn't really NEED to be plugged in either.....

mine isn't in since my 1J radiator was cracked and i used a 7M radiator. the plug doesn't fit. it just makes the fan work on high at all times. not a big deal

My Koyo/hydro setup moves massisve amounts of air. I live in a rural area of MS and on these roads if I'm not moving it'll kick up dust from the sides of the car!! I've not had any probs...

im fairly certian ill be able to get around the mounting issues, if there are any at all. And if the temp senor isnt plugged in its going to run on high, which doesnt seem that bad. Where can i buy one of these adapters you speak of? Are they avalable at most parts stores or are they a specialty item?
