I think the rims have bearings integrated so they can roll on the rim itself. The rims bolt into the chassis. I think the rear tire must be driven from the outside, by a hidden wheel or roller, which also serves as the rear brake. A similar roller or friction surface/drum might serve as the front brake. I assume the performance of this bike would render it totally impractical, and is strictly meant for show. A car with these wheels would stop traffic!! That would be fun to cruise around in and freak people out.

i agree with tek, probably a drive wheel hidden behind the engine for the rear.

Yep, been around forever.

From a design standpoint it's stupid though. You're increasing the rotation of the bearings many MANY times which will lead to earlier failure and lower tops speeds.

Ever watched a show called 'Biker Build-Off' on Discovery Channel? The show ran from 2002-2007.

This concept was shown on the show by builder Billy Lane, he has been building hubless bikes for a few years now.

Check out the Bikes section of his webpage: http://www.choppersinc.com/flash/index.asp

badass billy lane built the best looking bikes!!! i use to love watching that show and watching him just come up with some random shit on his bikes, and most the time they were complete 1 offs, made his own tanks and everything... unlike every1 else who uses a bunch of premade shit and changes lil things here n there
