Hey guys, whenever I get my guage pod I'll be installing my new GReddy guages but I have a question as to what I need to tap in to in order to have the work correctly. Here's what the manual says I need:

12V power source line
Ignition power source line
Parking light source line

So whats the best place to tap 3 guages into?

Thanks!

Personally I would tap into wires that would normally go to the radio.

That way if you do it wrong, you've only lost your radio function and not say, ignition switch, or other key components.

Just my opinion.

as long as you wire through fused circuits...the worst case would be a blown fuse...

yea pick up some fuses and some holders like the ones for stereo equipment, blown fuse is 15c compared to pulling and replacing ignition crap.

Okay, Stereo stuff will work fine. Since I don't have a stereo anyway...

I saw some people were saying over at SF to wire it into the clock also. but the stereo is easier anyway.

If you want to mount the pod on the left and short wire, you can always run it into the fog light 12v wire or any of the 12v on that array of button.

<$20 for the Electrical Wiring Diagram from Champion Toyota will allow you all to perform amazing electrical wiring feats and wonders on your vehicle.

Here's what I was able to determine from reviewing the wiring schematics in "my" wiring manual (per 1988 diagram):
Driver-Fuse-Panel(3).jpg

Get a "circuit add-on" wire and fuse from your local auto parts store to create the new 12v power source.

Another trick:
Group all the ground wires for the gauges into one wire, then route the wire to the gound input wire for the stock combination meter rheostat. Once this is accomplished, whenever you wish to dim tail lights (dash board) illumination etc.., the gauges will also dim accordingly. I took it one step further and have a dedicated power circut for my guages with an on/off button, so that I can turn the gauges on / off whenever I feel the need to. I also created a similiar circuitry for illumination.

Good luck.
