How to test the wastegate?

Ok so I've gone over my intake with a fine tooth comb, and the only thing I (and pete, WeeZL) can think of is a bad wastegate. I can build boost only to 2 psi. My BOV works fine, I've got no air leaks at any couplers, or gaskets, or anything. The turbo is still VERY much spooling, but the car bogs and engine dumps A LOT of gas.

So, how do I test to see if its my wastegate?

You can use compressed air to test the actuator, but use very small "puffs" or you will need a new one

U can also shim the actuator so that there's no room for the WG to open. Be careful though, bec. u'll see high PSI. U just want to test it, to see if u can go beyond 2 psi.

I'm posting this recommendation for those w/o compressors. (Like myself). Let us know what you find.

because... it could have definately been possible that your cat was clogged. It happened to me.

Ah. Well there was a problem with the line going from the wastegate to the turbo. Actually the problem was that there was NO line going between the two. Got that solved, and WOOSSHHH boosting again .


BIG thanks to WeeZL, i drug him out at 11:30pm in asscold weather, and he suggested the fix, and it worked. Yay.

That's what I was going to suggest . Glad you got it running again!

I thought that if the wastegate vacume line was messed up you would boost big time?
