I can get to the 3 screws on the bottom after I pull out something on the other side but how do you get to the 3 on the top of the tail light? I dont even see them.

Use a ratchet extension with a deep socket 8mm. Or use an open ended wrench to loosen and then unscrew with your hand. And by the way, you will need taillight gaskets. And it will take some tugging and pushing to get the lights out.

I wanted to work comfortably, so I not only removed the two plastic rectangular pieces from the interior, the ones you remove just to change a bulb or something.. remove the whole damned thing. It's more screwes to take out, but then you'll work comfortably. I found my 88 to 89 tail lights swap to be a piece of cake and fun to do, no complications.. I guess the hardest thing was to drill two holes (anyone who does the swap will know which two), and that's also a piece of cake. :)

werd,

i just ripped out the entire rear interior and went from there. I used Silicone sealant for making a gasket as a temp solution; it doesn't rain much in arizona :)
