I wanted to work comfortably, so I not only removed the two plastic rectangular pieces from the interior, the ones you remove just to change a bulb or something.. remove the whole damned thing. It's more screwes to take out, but then you'll work comfortably. I found my 88 to 89 tail lights swap to be a piece of cake and fun to do, no complications.. I guess the hardest thing was to drill two holes (anyone who does the swap will know which two), and that's also a piece of cake.
