Hey guys

My starter motor is fried , I need to remove it to get it replaced/reconditioned tomorrow. Weather is pretty bad here atm so chance is Il have to attack this in the rain where it stands(no space to park undercover...plus it idles so low when im not revving that it cuts out...which would be manageable if I could start my car in the first place). Need to get my starter out and to my mechanic to repair.

Still a noob ,so question is , how hard would it be to get to the starter motor , is it simple to remove? Anything I should look out for? Checked the TSRM but only shows how to disassemble ,repair and assemble the starter motor.

Id usually just jack the car up and figure it out myself, but its pouring , car isn't drivable enough to get it undercover and I just want to get in there , get the starter motor and get out as quick as I can.

I go in from the front under the intake manifold with a good two feet of extensions. Easiest way by far. Not too bad to pull it off.

Probably the most painful thing I've done with my supras. Pain in the ass. You can get to it without removing anything else, but holy fuck is it a challenge.

Quin has it right, you can do it from under the intake with a bunch of extensions. Good luck man, I feel for ya.

I hit it from the back. Lodge a wrench on the engine side. Then a socket wrench on the bellhousing side between the fire wall and the engine, and use a cheater bar to extend the handle above the engine. So that you can crank it and you are good to go.
