Well, I just picked up another supra to the MDC stables. Its a mint 89 turbo, original silver paint, great interior, no TEMS from the factory 5 speed.

No rust, 100% original every thing. Looks great!

The bad? The mice have made it smell nice and they ate all the stuffing out of the seats.

So, with your guys' help, I want to dedicate this thread on how to remove the interior, and the carpet.

How to clean out all the nice mice smell and how to reinstall new carpet and interior.

So first, to start, who knows of something that will take the smell of the mice away once the dash comes out and the interior gets torn apart?

Please don't say "frebreeze" or "cologne". I need something that will break down and nuetralize (sp?) the urine.

Next, whos got a good writeup on how to remove the dash, step by step?

Last, whos actually bought carpet for their car? How much, where did you get it, and show us how you put it back in.

Thanks in advance guys.

I would try amonia. It's so strong, that some people use it to remove smell of dog poop or urine(lack of better work:icon_bigg ) so they dont come back and recognize that area as their toilet area. Not sure how true it is though

I just got mines from http://www.1aauto.com/1A/Carpets/Toyota/Supra based on the recommendation of one of our member. ran me about $176 shipped. I have not opened the box yet, but it should be installed by this weekend. I'll let you know how it went. You can also find the carpet at www.stockinteriors.com for cheaper, but I dont know about their quality.

seriously

the cleaner is enzyme based that bonds and breaks down the offensive smells. the dryer sheets, just leave them in the car for a few days. freshens it up, but most importantly it helps absorb moisture, and a bit of odor. plus your interior will be static free lol.

If you are going through the trouble of taking out the carpet, dash, etc; you might as well remove all of the sound deadening from the cabin - this is the only real way to get rid of the smell. Start by peeling up all that you can - a heat gun and metal spatula will be of great assistance. Once you've got all of the big chunks out, clean the metal with varsol or an equivalent petroleum solvent. Then, buy yourself some car audio sound deadening (i recommend elemental designs edead V1^2) and replace everything you had removed and then some. This sound deadening is generally lighter, and will do a better job than the stock stuff.

As for carpet, I ordered mine from autocarpetpros.com. If you have a burgandy interior, 875 oxblood is the correct colour, not what they recommend. Installation with the mass backing is a bitch, you basically have to compare the old carpet to the new stuff to make the correct cuts, and even then, fitment is less than ideal. In the end, however, it ends up looking quite good.

What about bleach and water. If you plan on gutting the whole interior and installing new stuff wash the gutted interior with a bleach water solution.
Like 95% water and 5% bleach it is cheap and should the job. I know in the food service industry they use a milder solution to sanitize everything from working surfaces to utensils and plates. The Bleach will kill any bacteria causing the smell.

I wouldn't use bleach personally...

he could use the enzyme based cleaners on everything, including the seats

bleach...well he wouldn't have much of anything left...

I'm installing mines this weekend, and I feel like selling the car, lol. It's a mission, especially in the hot miami wheather. Removing the parts is the easy part. installing, trimming, cutting and placing the new carpet is the hard damm part. my fingers are all sore. I'm half way done, and depending on how I wake up tomorrow, it might stay this way for a while, lol

There was a situation like this on mythbusters, they left a rotting pig in a corvette for days and then attempted to clean it with an enzyme cleaner, or whatever. All I know is that it was a cleaner that was supposed to break apart the "smelly molecules" or something. Anyway the plan was to see if they could sell it after the bath. Well, they sold it, but even with their cleaner that was supposed to destroy any smell, it still smelled like the rotting pig. I know that you didnt have any pigs in your supra, but just something to add.

yeah i remember that episode. as a vette owner, i cant say i was happy lol. luckily i wasnt real fond of that year.

it is true that not even the super secret enzyme cleaner they had (used for crime scene cleaning) was enough. but 2 rotting pigs completely sealed inside the car inside a shipping container for 2 months in the california sun is pretty extreme lol.
