ok so im in the process of doing cam seals and front main seal. im trying to remove the fan. there are for bolts that hold it to the water pump pullley and i cant hold down the pulley to get the bolts off. every one says to to just loosen the nuts and pull it out. i dont have nuts i have 4 bolts?

how would i hold down the pulley i was thinking a chain wrench.

^that.

Or leave the belt on and you might get lucky and be able to loosen them. Or your back to the above.

Chain wrench will work but over kill. Would need to file the pulley after.

ya i just got it off i got the old belt put on a glove and wraped the belt around the pulley and pulled it as hard as i could and that held the pulley enough to get the bolts free.

thanks guys

Princess Auto has a little specialty tool for holding pulleys in place for removing nuts, which is hugely helpful. Couldn't find it on their website though.

It's a bar with prongs on the end to go on a stud/nut and an adjustable set on the side for another stud/nut. Overall, brilliant little tool... But I just use a big flat screwdriver, like IJ said, myself.
