i remember someone saying that you can spray brake cleaner or something like that on the tubes to see if you have a boost leak. i was wondering how this works. i want to check for leaks on my vw. thanks
how to check for boost leaks

Well theres a couple of ways:
1.) Visual inspection. Cracks, broken pipes etc
2.) Make yourself a pvc pressure tester - a pair of pvc caps which you can pressurise the whole boost system
3.) Take an unlit propane torch, turn it on, and while the engine is running - run it around all boost / vacuum hose connections. If the idle speeds up, you've found your boost leak. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE HANDLED WITH GREAT CAUTION AND PERSONAL PROTECTION. ANY IGNITION SOURCE SUCH AS THE ALT/GENERATOR WILL CAUSE IGNITION.
