On top of the age, your car will never be an antique or classic, because it isn't. There are states that have made that call already.

State of Georgia says - This tag (ANTIQUE) may be issued to a motor vehicle (private passenger car, truck weighing less than 14,000 lbs., or motorcycle) that
is more than twenty-five (25) years old or to a vehicle that has been designed and manufactured to resemble an antique or historical vehicle.

25 yrs or older for classics. I believe antiques you would have a limit ammount of miles you can drive per year, atleast that is how it is in Louisiana.

As I stated, here is one state, and it isn't uncommon.

Colorado said:
Motor vehicles that are model year 1975 or earlier or motor vehicles with a model year 1976 or later that were registered as a collector's item prior to September 1, 2009 which are not to be used in a commercial manner. All taxes and fees shall be five times the annual taxes and fees normally assessed.

The age has no bearing, when it was made deems it a classic. Unless you live in Texas or may Florida or somewhere similar, there is a good chance the state will drop the hammer on you for taking off cats and other emission control devices. One reason it isn't bad now is you all are destroying the cars quickly and they look at it and say, just let it burn.

Be mindful of your state enforcement. That is all I am saying.
