How often are you underestimated?

This Saturday night I was out playing foosball with a friend and getting my ass kicked so we moved on to check out the races.

We meet up with some friends and move to one of the spots where you can hang out for hours without getting hassled.

Now there is a beautiful blue 280z (if I can find pictures I will post them) with a 383 stoker motor with a cam and just tons of shit. This car is know to be “fast”:evil2: I raced him a few weeks ago on shitty tires and he just left me. Well I now have drag radials mounted and he was out again last night. I hate to stand around so I ask him if he would like to race. He agrees. :naughty:

Well I pull up…all quiet and have the top off of my car, radio on acting like I really don’t know what’s going on. He pulls up does a rolling burn out through 2nd gear, I didn’t even clean my tires off and then we are lining up. NOW here is where the fun starts. There is probably about 50-75 people standing around watching within a few feet from my car. Right away I get the comment:

“ Do you KNOW WHO you are racing?” Me: umm ok…

“What are you doing? Your going to loose no matter what!!!!!” ok. :nono:

In the background I’m hearing. “man this chick is going to loose so bad”

Then some idiot is telling me to put up my windows so I can be more aerodynamic. HELLO…the top is off…..that isn’t going to help me


Well he takes the jump on me……I hang with him but he’s still maybe has ½ of a car. By mid 3rd gear I’m really starting to pull….I’m right at his side and he freaking hits the brakes. Guess he had enough. Of course the excuses started to come out like crazy when we got back.

That little race right there sure shut up everyone’s mouths FAST. I heard nothing but positive comments from then on. :biglaugh:



This isn’t the first time my car has been underestimated. I’m sure some of you guys have similar stories? Post away.

my friends overrate the name supra and must not understand basiclly stock! when i pull up to a vette and they say i can smoke him....lol

Nice run, I've never been underestimated. I've had people say they won't race me cause I was in a Supra, it was a stock one so I was kind of confused about that one but anyways it still felt good.

If they know you have a turbo, the guys at work kind of reserve the X factor for you and don't say much stuff. Even the guys that have built muscle car V8s, 911s, Z06s..... But thats at work where you can get a lot of respect especially when they don't know what you have.

there's a lot of ricers that underestimate my N/A, and there's a lot of people that overestimate it because it's a supra. There's a guy here with a C5 vette that's convinced I'll pummel him into the ground. I tried to give him the "when hell freezes over" line, but he still won't believe me.

my best friend think's it's the fastest car in the world...lol...he's never ridden in a turbo :naughty:

Not since I added the wheels... when I was still running on sawblades, everyone and their uncle wanted to race me. Now everyone just rolls by slowly, even the fast cars. 'Tis all good, I rarely speed on public roads anyhow - unless I'm out with the local crew, in which case speeding just lets you keep up - barely. ;)

It seems everybody hates my car aroudn here. Probes, civics, protege 5's. Those boy wonders always talk smack until i line up with them then when they get whipped, as said before, the excuses start happening...

the dump intimidates people.. lol a FRC vette was next to me gunning it and falling back.... i opened up the dump next to him and he pulled down the next side road.. and he would of beat me.. lol

but people generally do think poop of the mkiii

haha its like the nice saying
" the bullshit stops when the light turns green" :) even the other night 2 kids in a 5.0L just kinda laughed when i pulled up beside them (wasnt even looking for a race) and so he does his 302 burmp off the line and so i just kinda creep beside him barely in boost then hammer it. he couldnt keep up. not even close. this was on a 3 laned road (on our side) and yea, he went to the far left lane and turned at the next light and wouldnt even look over. nethier would his friend. it was great because i was hitting fuel cut in every gear too ahhah

^ Yeah I guess that is something that comes with the car. it was just awesome to show everyone otherwise and hear their reactions.

Justin I haven't heard your car yet but mine under boost sounds absoutely sick. If was just just driving along on the street and heard my car drive by underboost I wouldn't mess with it.
