The Chrome moly rings equal bad in a yoter block. They don't like to seat correctly.

If it is all stock internals, $1500 shipped is a fair deal, considering to fully built engines just sold at $2,000

If you really had your motor built properly getting a used 1j is a unwarranted choice! To have the 7m motor built right you need forged pistons, and not necessarily forged rods depending on power levels required. A Prepped head and, block, new oil pump, and balancing to 10k rpm of the bottom assembly. Get a standalone to handle fuel, and ignition curve, and I bet that motor will out perform any 1j.
This is not a hate on 1j either. Sooo...please don't come with the 7m/1j garbage. They are both capeable motors, with the edge going to a properly machined, and prepped 7m. If you dont think so read Will kneelys thread on how to build a 7m on 7m power. None of the big power users scrapped their motors to build, or install a 1J. These are all factual statements so please don't make this a 1j/7m hateathon. Displacement and torque is the keythat is why race cars are grouped according to engine displacement, and that is why Toyota went back to the 3.0 litre engine, and raised the torque a bit!

i agreen that both motors have pros and cons, form what im told the 1j is a better motor for drifting due to the sharper throttle respons and oiling system. now im not downing the 7m i love the 7m it all i know im just kind of scared of the whole rod knock thing, i know i could go with a "accusump" but i just dont know what to do yet. i would like your guys to posible help me decide on which setup to go with

to all for posting THANK YOU

Sorry to jack, what exactly is Accusump? Obviously something with the oiling, what is it?

Ok EDIT: I looked it up, kinda expensive for a package deal but Im thinking worth it!

Anyone ever have pics of their setups? I looked on here but couldnt find anything.

It's all in the turbo setup.Get a new oil pump and keep it full of oil and hell its no comparison. The 7m will drift better because of the torque curve, but you need to do your home work. You really don't know what you are doing but its your choice. Personally I think you must research everything. Most people that go 1jz only do it because it's different and cool to say I have 1jz. My car pulls harder than my friends 1jz all day every day.
