You can push it to around 13-14 psi before you will hit Fuel Cut out. Though I have heard plenty that is around where the limit of the ct26 is. I ave been running mine maxed out for about 9 months without problems yet. But I don't drive it like a mad man either.

Also do some searching...this has been covered probably a bazillion times.

yea search it been covered....., but seriously keep it at 9-10 lb of boost if your on stock turbo boosting @ 13-14 will just crap out on you and prolly brake sumthing else and give u more headaches.

stay at a safe boost for now and then save up and buy a upgraded Ct (57 or 60 trim) rebuilt my MDC or w/e turbo u want and then turn up the boost.

if u asked this kinda Q thats been asked millions of time u might wanna seach on tuning devices and sidebands etc.

the way i think about the the Ct it was specifically made to boost 6-7lb of boost, but who cares what i think

My cousin ran 18psi on a stock CT.
So did I. It took over 20 psi to start really damaging the engine - and anyone that says there's no power difference between 22psi and 10 psi on a stock CT obviously hasn't driven both.

I feel that I should point out I was TRYING to kill the engine... and also admittedly the engine damage might have started earlier and just taken a while to show up.

BTW, in case you're interested, when it finally blew up it shattered two pistons, blew the head gasket, and roasted a bearing or two. I don't advise trying this unless you have a spare engine in the garage to drop in, like I did.

Soooo what is the range of safety ? Some people say no more than 14psi .....

with that said, are you on the stock turbo? if so, you're asking for trouble. 15+psi on the stock ct-26 is just blowing heat.

Jack - is 10 to 12psi safe on a stock CT? The details of my engine are a page or so back under 'fisher price' :)

yes on a stock motor 10-12 psi is ok provided you have done at least intake and exhaust mods.

the best way to look at pushing the stock ct is like this.

10-12 psi i think a stock ct in decent shape can do indefinately.
13-15 psi around 2 years or so depending on condition
for every 2 psi or so that you go up half the life span of the turbo

i personally pushed my stock ct pretty hard up to 18 psi almost daily toward the end and when i pulled it off it was just starting to go. this was over a 8-12 month period. the turbo just recently went tits up on the guy i sold it to after he returned it to stock levels about another year down the line.

you can push these turbos as high as you want but its not going to like being pushed so hard for long periods of time. and SC I agree with you on the "the ct doesn't die above 18 psi" it might not be as efficient but it still pulls and hard at that!

Aaah cheers dude. I didnt want to push things too hard. I think i'll start off slow and set the EVC to 8psi at first.

boost is addictive lol once u lose a race you will up the boost pressure :evil2: put it at 10 and you will have a blast for about aweek and a half. Then you will get bored and want more. Then you will wonder what can you do to get to 13-14psi b/c you will be eager to feel what 300rwhp feels like compared to 250rwhp......

However if you are like me and drive really hard keep an extra quart of oil in your engine. So at the higher RPM's you dont starve the engine of oil at anytime...... spare your self the headache posting "i have a rodknock and the 7m sucks".

Hehe - well, i was N/A before, and i thought that was pretty damn quick - hey, anything after a 1.4litre Ford Escort is quick! :D

I have to install the EVC First, which should be fun in and of itself.

I'll set it to 8psi first, then 10 later on if i feel confident enough. I dont want to do any damage.

Heh, even the N/A packed more punch than the 2.8 litre V6 Ford Sierra XR4x4 i had that was previously the most powerful car i'd driven on the roads. Remember - the UK isnt teeming with V6/V8 engined cars - most are 1.6 to 1.8litres - anything more is considered luxurious :p

8psi is gay. at 8psi it probably still won't feel all that much faster than your NA. I remember when I had my 7M. It wasn't any fun until ~12 at least. before I pulled it, I was running ~14. never blew any HGs or nothin.

bs.

people have put 400hp through that thing. not that it wouldn't be a good idea to upgrade it at any time but you can make power through it.

and there was an easily noticeable difference between 10 and 14psi. All I had was a downpipe, exhaust, intake an a profec B II. stock IC
