How much boost?

Ok, so new to the supra and was wondering how much boost I can safely run with just an intake. Stock internals, stock exhaust, stock intercooler...you get the idea. I know any mod goes far with the supra and I'm thinking of getting a boost controller, but probably won't have the money for a full exhaust anytime soon afterwards. So..how high can I safely turn it up w/just an intake?

id stick to around 8psi if you arent going to have a full 3in exhaust, gonna have too much restriction and risk alot of things (bhg comes to mind) on that note....boost it till it blows and then rebuild and boost some more

you'll hit fuel cut at 11-11.5 psi

Not necessarily... It can vary from car to car. On my old 87T with intake and full exhaust, I was reaching 13psi at least without boost controller.

Besides that I agree with MKIIINA for 8psi with only intake... Definitely get the exhaust done - 3" all the way

why waste money on a bc when you dont need it? spend the same 300-400 bucks you would on an ebc and get a FULL 3inch exhaust...this will up your boost automatically at least 2psi and will also give you safe hp...

Agreed. The stock exhaust, especially if it has the orignal cat's can cause quite a restriction. If you raise the boost with out removing the restriction a large amount heat can be trapt in the engine bay possibly causing damage to various parts. Take your time and upgrade your supra the right way. Be patient and you car will take the the upgrades much better

11-11.5 is an average, Ive seen as low as 9 psi fuel cut and high as 12.5 psi. you need to take many things into consideration such as the level of modification, altitude, atmospheric conditions, ect.....

A local supra owner has been running 11 psi on a completely stock motor (not even an intake) for over year and a half with not sign of BHG.

That sounds like a good deal. I paid around $450 for my full 3" downpipe, high flow cat(test pipe),3" piping, and muffler. It will add around 1.5pds of boost. After that shim the wastegate about 4-5 washers($1.25 at hardware store) and you should be up around 10-11pds of boost and around 50-60 more hps :icon_bigg Then your car will be ripping until it blows. Later-T

I spent $39.51 on my exhaust. Go to an exhaust shop and buy two 7 foot sticks of 3" exhaust pipe. Find a piece of 1/4 inch plate steel. Cut the flanges from plate steel. Take your exhaust pipe and make like 22 degree cuts where it needs to bend. Then, flip it around where you need a 45 degree angle, and mig weld it together. You can make a nice exhaust real cheap. I built the divorced wastegate type. I have full 3" from turbo back, including replacing the elbow with something better. Its quite nice. I still have to do a little work on my car though, because I hit fuel cut at 10.5 psi :p

My friends friend apparently had a Supra Turbo just like mine, had a EBC as only performance, the guy bought it without knowing shit about turbo cars... he always put it on ''hi'' lol tahts all he knew..probably something like 12-15psi , well...guess what..blew the engine within a month..the guy before him probably knew it was coming.

Conclusion to this thread, dont buy a Boost Controller before your car can take it. You wont get much power out of 12psi with that shitty stock exhaust...anyways..i doubt it very much
