supposedly 30k on it...looks good condition
i've had enough with my 170,000 mile engine.
how much work and how long does it take to do a swap?
i might be interested in swapping. the thing is i've never done it before, but im sure i can find a friend or too that has to help out..

You could probally do it in a day, but if its your first time Id donate a weekend. Fri-Sunday

Edit, if its also includes a transmission youll need to source a driveshaft. Does it come with the GTE ECU and HAC sensor?

Looks really nice from the pics (wonder whats with all the grime on the fan though). I personally dont like engines I have no/little history on. But it looks like a solid engine from the outside, could you get the compression results from the dealer?

Its JDM so if you need to pass smog youll need to find an EGR. Youll also need an exhaust. I didnt see anything about the ECU or the HAC sensor being included. If your dropping it into a W-58 id go with a little tougher clutch but thats just me.

Umm-
A couple of thoughts.
Your buying a unkown used engine.
It might work out just fine, swap your sensors over, put the EGR on, fill with oil and good to go.

However, you should be aware of the following.
Other members have gone this route, with no so great results.
1- This engine may have been sitting for quite some time.
2-Compression and leak down to not accuratly test for BHG
3- At a minimum you will need gaskets and should replace the timing belt, hoses etc.
Just some quick thoughts
Do it right the first time or do it twice.

Again this may work out just great, but that is a maybe.
For 1100 you could come close to rebuilding your head, OEM HG, ARP head bolts, hone your block with new bearings. Then you would have a known good engine for sure.

My 2 cents

Good luck

The quality of your work depends on how much time you put into it :icon_wink. Don't rush through the important stuff.

actually dont rush cause ull forget stuff... lol...

like i was rushing to get my car running when i swap it i forgot the starter lol... dam sux ass cause it just took me more time than needed.

and it shouldnt take long for a straight forward swap. (ae: turbo to turbo or n/a to n/a) first time i did it took me the whole weekend but i was by myself no help so yeah lol...

and now im doing n/a to turbo and auto to 5-speed convertion. all is going well it didnt take that loong. no help to lol... im my own engine swapping crew lol. but yeah if your not converting anything its not ganna take long. if you are then things can get complicated. especially if your doing more than one things while your swapping ae: converting/fixing body/ adding mods and so on.

If there's an experienced Supramaniac near by, you should be able to get it out in 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on how fiesty your bolts are...

Last time I pulled/put back in my 88T's motor and trans, it was 50 minutes out, 3 hours later back in and running. Replaced bearings, oil pan gasket, retorqued everything, new front and rear mains, and put her back in.

If you run into any problems while doing the swap, feel free to give me a ring on my cell phone. It's in the Breakdown Hotline thread.
