My brother and I were out driving my car today without the A/C on for the most part of the day. Towards the end of our driving we were on the freeway and after doing a hard pull, I noticed a burning smell. It smelled similar to hot electronics but as soon as we got off the freeway and stopped at a red light the smell went away. Then after pulling into a parking lot, he turned off the car and the turbo timer did not keep the engine running. After poking my sniffer around under the hood for what was burning, I figured we should probably restart the car and allow the motor to run for a few minutes to help cool the turbo and not cook the oil. He attempted to use the remote start to start the car and all that came on was the turbo timer and the interior lights on the dash. The starter did not even attempt to crank. We then tried to start the car normally, and still nothing happened and then we could not get the turbo timer to turn off until me disconnected the battery. I am thinking a starter may be some of the problem especially because it was acting up a few months ago, but its not everything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
