How much horsepower can a r154 hold up???I am in the process of a rebuild
and I am hoping to get 400-500 to the wheels, so just want to know if I should get it rebuilt or if it's good enough as is.also does anybody know what they usually charge for a trans freshen up?? and any suggestions on a clutch for that power range? thanks an advance

dude. this topic has been covered many many times.

they can handle as much HP as you can throw at it as long as you treat it right. as long as there is a little bit of slippage in your clutch or tires it should be fine. when you start driving with the full shock on the transmision, 1st gear thrust washers begin being busted/melted.

at least thats what i've heard by reading around

To a point, Natan is correct. Over 100rwhp and they start to have issues - hammer it in a low gear with sticky tires on and you can peel the teeth off the gears like a cob of corn. Will Neely's 733rwhp monster ran into this problem.

There are lots of clutch choices for this, ACT, RPS, Tilton...
