that's an extremely common deal among avid 4wd and rock climbers...that way they can re-weld whatever may break wherever it may break....good idea really...it may not be wonderful welding but it'll get your ass home.

couldn't you make a home machine with a 6.5hp motor, instead of a dc alt....get two 130amp alt to double the power output. This that this would work? If so, maybe I can use my mig welding skills to make a portible engine driven tig machine, that'd be pimp...

That's trully awesome. Make the parts on your car, and also make the welder used to make the parts! Next we'll find a way to make our own metal foundries using old washing machines, and then we'll trully be gods.
