holy fu#k HELP

I pulled the motor and trans together. I fixed the engine then bolted them back together. Then houst it in and get within 1 inch of the mounts and thats it.What's the proper way to put back in? Is there a trick somewhere. thanks

sounds like you got the wrong mounts. the 86.5-88 used a different mount than the 89-92 7ms. was a subframe revision to make the 1jz fit better. you will need to use mounts from the car its going into.

I think you're overthinking this-
He said(I think!) that he pulled the engine out, repaired it, and put it back in, no swap or anything.

It's easier if the mounts are on the motor, and not on the engine cradle, when you lower it in.

Jack up the transmission and push the engine back toward the firewall. It will slip in the grove.

Take a picture of the mounts and post it so we can make sure those are the right mounts for your car.
