Hm, what are some good all-season tires?

I usually see everyone going for summer tires, and the reviews I've read on this forum are mainly summer tires. Anyone have opinions on good all-seasons?

My opinion

for go the all season and get a set for Winter if that is why you are asking.

All-season are a hodge podge and will never be lik a sumer dedicated/winter dedicated tire.

Kumho ASX have served me quite well. I have used them on a few different cars - all with good results.

I was going to buy dedicated winter tires this year, but decided to put a set of ASX's on instead - they did well through the winter.

I daily drive on a set of these. They hold very well even in wet conditions. I hear they're being discontinued, however. I got mine on the cheap when I replaced them recently.

who in theory is good for everything, in practise is good for nothing... Golden law ;)

Just buy a set of winter tires and a set of summer. Even cheapest summer/winter tires are a lot better then all-season.

I have GoodYear Eagle F1 GS-D3

Exceptional tires which are outstanding in the rain. IMO, they are one of the best summer tires in wet weather. They are OEM tires for the ferrari F430.

If you drive all season long, these tires matched with winter tires for the snow would be perfect.

I'm mainly looking for tires good in the summer+wet, not snow, so thanks all of you for your opinions. But even so, keep them coming.

I have a set of Toyo Proxes 4 and they dont look like an all season but are considered one. Awesome tire for street use and work just as good in the rain. Tread wear is really good also and they don't cost too much either. Check them out.

I'm with the guys who say get two full sets.

It doesn't matter what all season tires you get, they will be inferior to my snow tires on snow, ice, or in the rain, AND they will be inferior to my high performance tires on anything dry.

I use Michelin M&S in the winter, and Falken Azenis RT615 in summer.

In other words, they suck at everything huh? Haha.

yes. this is the set i bought a few weeks ago.

the reason i bought these? the cheapest ones tirerack had, with a good wear rating. i put about 25 miles on them, then burned off about 1/2 the tread the same day. i couldn't tell you what the grip like, but i'm not too impressed with the smoke output either. i'm sure that has something to do with a 400 wear rating though

i agree with the Toyo Proxes. At first glance you would think otherwise with the V Groove tread, i only used them in the summer and they have little tread wear, and good in the rain/wet. my .02

Kumho Ecsta SPT's here, awesome in the rain (good water channels) and great dry, have yet to try em on anything wintery as we haven't had any bad weather here in texas yet...

They don't last as long as the ASX's though, and those AST's are H rated, so they won't ever touch my car...

I hear that argument quite a bit, but it really depends on the climate you are in. I actually have two sets of wheels/tires. I got all seasons on my "winter" set because in Chicago, there are only 3-4 days I will ever have to actually drive on the snow. Most of the time the roads are nicely plowed.

My "winter" setup is a smaller diameter and aspect ratio to deal with the extra potholes and give better traction on those days that I am on snow.

I do agree that real winter tires are best for snow, but that doesn't necessarily mean that everybody needs them.

Some people can run all-seasons just by virtue of how they drive. If the car isn't heavily modified and is used for normal driving, all-seasons can work just fine. It is when we start adding power or driving aggressively that different tires might have some value.
