Sup Guys, Well I got my HKS Pillow Ball Mounts in today, Man are they nice. The only question I have is do you need to get some sort of seat for the top part of the springs, or do the springs rest on the bottom of the Pillow Ball Mounts. I got brand new Tokico Blue shocks and Intrax Lowering springs also. Any help would be greatly appreciated.:naughty:

The spring should have a "cup" that it sits in. I'll try to find a pic.

Ok here is some what of a pic (not toyota) but it shows the upper perch, maybe someone else has a pic of the actual piece you need.

Depends on the brand I think, the Ground Controls I got for my BMW came with them, and I'm using GC camber plates (adjustable pillow ball mounts) on the bimmer.

I have the hks pillow ball mounts on all four corners. I use tokico spirngs and illumina II struts. I had to fabricat a mount for the rear for the tems motors (1990). I do not have any spring cap cushion on any spirng. I think you can get some tho.
The tokico springs were too low in the front with this set up so i had a 1/2 inch spacer made to put between the PBM and spring. this allowed the front of the car to sit up a little higher so i would not bottom out. The rear springs did not need any spacer. I do not have a spring cap in the rear either and the springs have a tendency to slide inward. The spings on each side in the rear move towards each other till the shock tower stops them. Doesnt seem to be a problem.
I have put some pics of the spacer with the spring/strut of the front. Also are pics of the tems motor mounts front and back.

with out any rubber the set up is a little harder and noisier when you hit bumps but there is no compression of the rubber (because its not there) when you turn hard either. You will feel the road more. You will hear the pot holes coming up from the road into your car too.

I'm not keeping tems so I'm not worried about that. With the mounts being Ball Mounts wont it be bad to have the spring plate pressing up against the mount it self?

I think so. The spring and shock should both be on the "ball" or there would be no point in the pillow ball. I have yet to do the Sups suspension, but I have done a full coilover set up on the BMW with pillow ball mounts. On that set up both are on the "ball". But the bimmer uses macpherson struts, but either way, the force should be on the "ball".

That's exactly what I thought. I have been doing some research on the Internet and have seen a lot of Mkiii's with them. Most every one just has the springs resting right on the pillow ball mount. The ball moves inside the joint, and by putting the spring right on it, it cause the mounts to be pretty much useless. I am drawing everything up in auto cad and going to get some springs tops CNC.

Here is a good pic of how my GC's came to me (not my pic, but it has the same parts) you can see the spring caps. The caps mount to the shock then the shock mounts to the pillow ball. You might give GC a call, they make their own caps and could probably supply you with ones that would work, just an idea, and/or call HKS and see what they say.
