Id love a clean m or s4. However, to make those as fun and reliable as a decent mk3 will cost much more $$$$$
I am sure overall the cost would be less for a decent MK3 vs an S4 and M3 purchase. My dilemma is I purchased MK3 for $2700,And have laundry list of repairs
power steering leak $300
new ball joints and tie rod (diy) cheap
rewire standalone, new fuel pump, dyno-tune $1200,
Following needs to be completed
Random Oil leak, Need a new turbo $$$
Need a newHigh flow cat, emissions then test pipe bump up the boost then tune probably $800
New paint Job and New clutch/flywheel $3000
After that what is to say my head gasket doesn't kick the bucket.

I like the S4 also. Twin turbo V6 or the 4.2V8, either way. The problem is, I can jam far more stuff in my Yukon.
I am leaning towards M3, i have experience with e46's and it seems to be the better track car. I was just in Vegas and went to
http://www.exoticsracing.com/ raced a 458 Italia and Porsche Turbo PDK on a road track, it put a huge grin on my face. Now I have the track bug.
