My car is getting a HKS metal head gasket, 1.2 mm bead type, but im not using ARP studs/bolts, just the original ones, is that ok? Everyone on here uses arp studs when installing the HG. If I torque it correctly will it last pretty long?
If you torque it to 72-75 foot pounds, it should work fine. Personally I'd buy a set of ARP bolts for the extra $100 and torque it down to 100, but that may just be me.
Remember to check that all the rivets on the head gasket are not preventing a good seal before you torque it down - the rear passenger side one was trying to get in the way on mine, so I drilled it out.
thanks for the reply, i gave all the parts to my buddy, who is an airplane mechanic and supra enthusiats, before i started reading about the ARP's. its almost done now, so i dont have time to buy the bolts, i was just wondering if it will work.
