Hey guys,
I am looking to pick up a FCD and was wondering what the big difference was between the HKS K-type and standard. From what I have research the K-Type uses an rpm signal to regulate the fuel cut, where as the standard you adjust yourself. Some say that the standard doesnt work and to go with the K-Type. So whats the best way to go. (FYI- I am running an upgraded ct-26, 550ccs, lexus afm, Aeromotive FPR, full 3" exhaust, new fmic with 2.5" pipe, and I have a AEM wideband.

Why do you need an FCD? You already have the correct means to safely bypass the fuel cut...

Not really, or at least as I understand it. The hits fuel cut at around 14 as it thinks there is a wastegate malfunction at higher boost levels. I would like to run about 16-17 pounds and I hit fuel cut right around 13. So I want to get a FCD so I can eliminate fuel cut, I just dont know which module is best to go with.
thanks

You most likely have a boost leak if you are hitting fuel cut at 13ish with an upgraded CT. Once you fix that, you should be able to run quite a bit more boost without cut. To adjust the point where the fuel cuts off, turn up the fuel pressure and then back out the bypass screw in the AFM a corresponding amount.

The boost cut is actually a good thing. In your case, it is indicating a boost leak for you. In other cases, it can indicate the need for fuel upgrades. Basically, it is telling you that you have gotten to the end of the mapping in the ecu. That isn't a good place to be hanging out. If you put on an FCD and boost higher than the cut was, that is exactly what you are doing. So, the answer is no FCD is the best one to go with.

Ok sounds like that's what it is, I will start with checking all my couplers. What and where is the best place to check for a boost leak? I am definitely getting boost just no regulation as the turbo just keeps spooling and the wastegate doesn't open I guess.
Thanks for your help!

Best way to do it is to pressurize the system and listen for leaks. You will find a million things you'd never see that way.

If your wastegate doesn't open, that can be bad. Thank the fuel cut for saving you an engine rebuild. You should probably look into that first. Maybe an MBC installed backwards or a leaky hose going to the gate or something. Test the actuator with regulated compressed air.

check the pressure line that is off the turbo compressor housing that goes to the waste. If it is an upgraded CT26, the pressure line is right off the turbo and if it is disconnected or melted is a significant boost leak :)
