hks fcon & vpc Q's

now both of these items require chips... i want to control the 550's that will be in my car so do i need to get a vpc 550 chip and an fcon 550 chip or just a 550 chip in the fcon?

i have the fcon already (getting the pressure sensor)
i currently have the e705 jdm chip (1jz, 2jz & 7m)
is it supposed to have an air intake temp sensor as well?

so initially i'll be running with just the fcon so i'll put the 550 chip in that, but once i add the vpc do i need the 550 chip for that too or can i just use the normal one?

I have this setup in my 89T. Both of them have 550 chip installed. I'm positive that's what you would need. They are a pain to tune and A/F meter love to stay on the rich side. Took me a while to get the idle half way decent. Suggested dyno tuning. I have not done that yet. Hope this help.

P.S. Hit fuel cut at 18.9 PSI. Be carful with the FCD (assuming it came with the F-CON). Having a fuel cut will save your engine!

well i'm just using the fcon (no vpc at the mo) to run the 550's... i don't have a lexus or anything else to run them

does the fcon require a air intake temp sensor as well? or just pressure sensor?

not sure if there is fuel cut defender in the fcon but i have a fcd anyhow... and i'm experienced with it

Here is what you will need:

HKS 21219-001100 HKS VPC pressure sensor harness

HKS 4603 RA001 pressure sensor for FCON/VPC

HKS 91112-086100 Air temp sensor mount.

HKS 21200-SUP009B VPC rom 550cc chip

HKS 21200-E105V Supra 1986.5-1988 Turbo FCON rom ; For Use With VPC 550cc chip

I just ordered all this, this week. Should get it in on tuesday. I will take some pics.

All about $208 shipped USD from Options Auto Salon, all IN STOCK at HKS USA.

edit: the link to supracentral was awesome, thanks for that... now it seems for me to run up to 15psi boosting hardcore i need to change a dip switch to 7-9?

they have ( Or can GET) anything HKS you need. Though they are in California USA....maybe you have a parts superstore like that near you?

You need to get the 21200-E165 Chip from HKS, that chip you you have ( E705) does not even pertain to the 7mgte motor. Its not even on HKS's website ( at least HKS USA).

The E165 chip is for 550cc injectors for the 7mgte.

the essential word being JDM ;)

hks usa have different chip numbers but the jdm 550 chip is no longer available so i have to use a usa one :)

yea i'm thinkin of buying the chip from horsepowerfreaks and getting it shipped to NY as they wanna charge me $50usd to ship it :aigo:
damn it's the size of like a quarter dollar LOL

Speaking of $50 and shipping, I sold a Blitz boost gauge on ebay to a guy in Poland...USPS lost it, no tracking number usable since its in polands mail system.....3 months now and the polish guy has not recieved it.

MAKE SURE YOU GET A TRACKING NUMBER AND INSURANCE.

I have to pay the guy his $50 back.:nono:

Ok since everyone is on the subject of FCON here can anyone help me with mine? I plugged in and the car idled fine until you hit the gas. Once you do the rpm's only go to about 2500 and when you let off the car dies! Any ideas? Don't know if it's a bad unit or the car just needs time to adjust. I've heard of unplugging the ECU to let it reset then try again. Let me know what you think.
By the way I'm Jen a newbie on this forum. Anyone on i-supra?
