Highway: 2006 Mutsubishi Lancer Evo IX

No, I didnt win this, but it was freaking sweet. So I was cruising around tonight and I ran into a Lancer Evo. :icon_surp He brought it up from the US so it was awd.. Needless to say I didnt try racing from a dig, especially because I had my 195 winter tires on. :naughty:

So I ask him if he wants to go out to the highway to do a third gear pull, he says "Hell, why not." So I ask him what he has done, and he said just intake and exhaust.. but still waiting on his boost controller. So Im just hoping I dont get spanked. We hit the highway, and starting at about 60km/h in 3rd he does the 3 honks and we take off. My tires hopped a little bit and from 60-120 he pulled a bit, my front bumper was about 4ft from his rear bumper. Then from 120-180 he couldnt pull anymore and then I shut down.

So I pull up next to him at the light and the first thing he says "Wow your turbo is loud." I just laughed and said it was a good race. We do a bit of small talk and then he takes off. He was a nice guy and wasnt cocky about his car which was nice.

Definitly made my night.

Stock CT-26 @ .80 bar, Cooleeze 3" downpipe, 3" Custom exhaust, Stock IC with cooleeze pipes, K&N Intake, Lexus AFM, Rc 550's

If you had your good tires on, you would of spanked him. I used to destroy evos on the freeway, because they run out of gears way too fast

He obviously had the factory downpipe and cat still installed if he heard your turbo over his.

Put a 3" turbo back with no cat and bigger injectors on an evo, and you will get your ass handed to you on the highway. Ask me how I know.... (hint hint vbpicgallery hint hint) I've seen Ego's put down 340whp with exhaust, injectors, a good tune and a twin disc clutch.

And I'm talking about the VIII's. The IX's have variable valve timing on the intake cam only, so you can expect those numbers to be even higher with the same mods.

i'm just sayin... i'd destroy 'em in my '89 targa O_O that thing was a tank, and all i had was a bic downpipe, 3" inch exhaust, and hacked stock airbox w/ k&n filter, i've raced 'em in my '87 too, and the decimation was even worse (more mods of course, and less weight)

He had a full exhaust and an intake. He was right beside me with his window down, which is likely why he made the turbo comment. I thought it was a good race because Im running my stock turbo and low boost.

Evo's really piss me off, especically the IX's, they are so damn fast with the simplest mods, a local guy with one had jus intake, full exhaust, MBC & 50 shot spanked almost everything in my small town.
