High performance altenator choices

Everyone,

I need a new altenator...Anyone have any ideas as to where I can get a good high performance altenator? Online or otherwise...I really want one that is better than stock. I have a 1990 Turbo with several mods...Let me know...

FJ80 Land Cruiser alt is 110a and once the pully from the 7M alt is swapped it's plugNplay using the adaptor harness available.

Wrong section for this, I believe the 89-90ish MR2s had a high output 130a alt as well.

Pretty sure the MR2 alt's are only 100A.


I wonder if the inexpensive ebay alternators put out close to the 130A-160A they advertise?

The other day I ordered the 130A ebay one with a smaller pulley (suppose to help). I was told it puts out full amperage at 6500rpm and around 15A at idle. Supposedly the factory alternator only does 10A at idle. I'll have the new alternator tested when I get it and post the results.

i can build a 140A with new stator,regulator,rectifier and bearings(full rebuild) for 200 with a core without core 220. i can do more for any other supra guys out there as well thanks.

Powermaster also makes a plug and play alt for the Supra, It is a 170 amp. BTW the MK4 alternators will also fit the 1jz and 7M, just the plug may be different.

Think it was a 95 (it's buried in my big thread) The patch lead was available at my parts supplier,

Hmm... in all my listings for Japan, Europe, Australia, and North America, the highest amperage FJ80 alternator listed is 90A.

The HDJ80 had a 100A alternator, but that was the highest I found for any 80 series.

(EDIT: The highest the MR2 had was also 100A)

Yep sorry about that should have mentioned it!

They listed it as 80a but supply 110's across the board.

hmm quick question i just got my 130amp wewound alt back up and runing... (damn voltage regulator) but i know at idle with my headlights on everything is only at 12.5v, cruising with headlights on i am at 13.5. this is with efans. now idling without efans, but headlights on i am getting 13.5...

what r u guys getting?

you prob just need a smaller pulley on that hi amp to get the voltage at idle. atleast i had to on my 140A it would charge shity at an idle till i got the smaller pulley.
