Hello all. Names Chris from Richmond VA. Have an 84 celica gt-s im looking to upgrade with a supra motor. I ultimatley want toi drift my car. This will be my first project car. I know its a big order for a first timer but i dont think its gonna be too much or a prob. probably wrong right?
Im not 100% on what understeer and oversteer are. from what ive read oversteer is when the rear starts to lose grip and kick out. And under is when the front wwont turn harder even though youre cranking the steering wheel. That about right?
The thing im trying to figure out is if the added weight in the front from swapping a 250 lb (approx) 22re to a 520 lb 2jz is going to pin the front to the ground better and cause the cars ass to snap harder or will it make me understeer real bad? i know that the first things ineed to do with the car is susp and fat ass tires. but will this prevent understeer? and is it good to have an equal amount of torque to hp or more torque?
Another issue is i know i dont need the 2jz. or the 1jz to drift. if i found the right parts for my 22re it'd probably be fine But im obsessed with raw power. i think i need to back off to the 1jz(sorry flex). i know it would be plenty. id just like to have enough power to hit the highway and spank some of these new rides.
