Hello, New to the fourm. But not new to car forums. I've had a 2005 STi & a 2006 EVO IX. Now i have a 2008 F-150 (lol) and just recently bought an 87' MKIII turbo. It is on jackstands & does not have an engine in it, so i get to start with a clean palet. I look foward to using this fourm as a valueable resource during my rebuild. (Don't worry i know where the search button is) & i look foward to meeting some great people on here too.

7mgte is what i was planning on, I know they have a head gasket problem. I don't know that much about 1jz engine. Which one do you suggest?

I'm not going to make suggestions because it's entirely up to you. What ever floats your boat.

Head gasket problems on 7M's aren't a big deal, just put a metal head gasket on with ARP hardware, torque it down to the right specs and you're good to go. Hopefully someone will chime in and shed more light on this ordeal.

I have a HKS MHG on my 7m with minor mods and i love it. 7m's can make some wicked power. but its all a personal choice.

I think it depends on how u drive it.

You never know. Some MKIII's only made it 80k miles before the HG blew. There are members on here with over 150k miles on the stock head gasket.

I would think with the larger displacement of the 7M over the 1JZ would give the 7M an advantage in power & tourqe production.

I appreciate what your saying here. But i wasn't going to base my decision on a suggestion i was just looking for different point of views.
