Found an 89 MKIII today, RED, Targa, Sitting, Widows smashed. It was in a shop parking lot in the back of the building.

Talked to the owner of the shop to find out if it was for sale. He basically said "Take this MF off my lot NOW! I tried to find the owner, and she won't come back to get this B*tch.... I need it GONE!" So tomorrow i get a Free Mechanic'd Lean MKIII NA. :biglaugh: :biglaugh: :biglaugh: Not sure if the motor is good but I don't care...It has enough parts on it to warrant a Restore and possibly a 1UZFE transplant.
I found out it had been stolen before, and recovered. As a result, the Vin Plate in the window is missing as well as the sticker on the door jamb. Where else is the VIN stamped on the Frame? Do the engine numbers matter? THe DMV has put an ID plate on the Door jamb but my insider DMV person says that number meant nothing and wasn't in the system...so I want to know if there are multiple places that Toyota stamped a VIN.

Not stamped but you can find stickers... Front bumper the metal not the bumper cover, along with the rear bumper, again not the cover. Check the doors..

89 with the surplus pre-89 turbo wing. Also the seat fabric looks to be the 89 stuff. Would need shots of the dash to really know though...

It appears to have a registration or inspection sticker, the VIN should be on it.

OEM Vin plate in the Dash corner has been removed. I'll post more photos tomorrow.

I second that about the firewall just above valve covers

Isn't that the Chassis Identification #? Or more like tells you what Family and Engine series that chassis takes? MA70xxx....<---M or 7m series engine?? and JA70xxxx <-----1jz engine?

pre 89s have it on a plate on the firewall, 89+'s moved to the door jam and a bunch of other places..

That's what I am trying to find is the "Bunch of other Places" so I can get it titled. I am going over in a few minutes to gather as much information as I can. Tow day will be either today or tomorrow.
I will start a build thread when it happens...That means I'll have 2. I am still waiting to get my crank back for my 89 Turbo my son and I are working on. Stay tuned. Oh.....Does anyone know if 7M Cranks ever wound up in NA's?

Does the bumper cover have to be removed to find it?

Nope, It is located on the left side right next to the bumper support. For instance if it was a turbo car it would be right in front of the oil cooler on the bumper. This is as long it also hasn't been removed, or the front end hasn't been replaced due to a accident.

Here is a pic of mine if it helps, you might have to remove the splash shield to see it. Look under the car or remove the over flow coolant tank and look from the top down.

The rear bumper and support also has the VIN # but might not be as easy to find with out removing the bumper

I found it. There was a tiny sticker on the Hood brace in the very front like right near the left headlight if the hood was closed. Let the paper work begin! Thanks for all your suggestions. Thieves, however clever, always miss something.
