First off, let me say, I LOVE SUPRAS! i aquired my 87 n/a from my friend as an eighteenth birthday gift. it had a blown motor (main bearings gone) so i went searching online for another one. not much luck online. i ended up finding one at a local junkyard. (7m-ge from 91 cressida) for 500 bucks. had low miles. between 30-40 thousand. heres where i'm not at: i took the old motor out and put the new one in. i have almost everythin needed connected. the other day, i sprayed some starting fluid into it and got a roar(no exhaust) but when i can back a couple days later and tried it again, nothing. so i took out a spark plug to see if i was gettin spark, nothing. so i went all out and got a cap, rotor, spark plugs, and wire. still nothing. thats where i'm hoping you guyes can come in. any help is greatly appreciated.... Thanks, Justin

here are some pics of the build...

Not having an exhaust connected isn't going to keep the engine from firing... and don't get me started on the "backpressure" thing.

TooGoode, have you verified the timing and distributor position? If it fired the first time something's probably changed... what was it? Have you checked the ignition coil?

BTW - You'll get more response in either the N/A specific section or the General Discussion section, ask a mod to move the thread.

I have a 91 Cressida without an exhaust manifold and it runs lmao... LOUD!!

First off, did you check if your coil wire is connected right? The pins on the plugs can slide out of the connecters really ez. I figured this out on my gold 91 Cressida before I did went GTE and found that one of the pins in the connecter slid out from yanking the plugs.

If thats not the case, then you either have a bad coil or a bad ECU. I suggest you check for a signal with an ohmeter from the plug that goes toe the coil. If nothing, then thats an ECU or wiring problem.
