Hi my name is Jack and i figured I should introduce myself. I used to have a 1985 Celica Supra P-Type with a 5 speed and 4.30 LSD. I had it for a little over a year until it got stolen in January '08. It had been my dad's car for around 10 years and needless to say, I fell in love with Supra's the day he brought it home. Now I'm just kind of playing the waiting game until I can save up enough to get another supra. Although this time, I want to get a 89-92 Turbo Targa. The pictures are from the impound lot where it was taken after the police found it. I was unable to get it back due to some b.s. policy my insurance has.

What's the deal with that?! Car looks pretty good from the pics, Jack.
Shame you couldn't get the car back. I would definitely be going with another insurance company after that ordeal.

Welcome to SupraMania. We're all a bit crude and tough at times, but we generally mean well, and are more than willing to help. Good choice on the 89-92 MK3, they're the best ones ;)

There's a link in my sig that says "you'll read this if you know what's good for you"
I would suggest you take a gander in there and absorb as much as possible.

Welcome to Supramania.
If you're not able to buy the car back, who is? Have you checked with the impound to see if they'll sell it to you?

hey guys, thanks for taking the time to read this... to supra90turbo: i've been researching these cars for a while and have been reading a lot of stuff over on supraforums since 08, and i've read the post you have linked too. i definitely have seen the consequences of idiocy over on SF. and to suprahero: the deal with my insurance that im pissed about is that it is "against their policy to sell salvaged vehicles to private parties of any kind" and since they found it 3 months after it was stolen we had already gotten the money for it so technically they owned it and could tell us to go f*** ourselves. that is why when i get my own insurance it will most definitely NOT be mercury.

You couldn't buy it back from them?

no i couldnt. its against their policy to sell a salvaged vehicle back to a private party. when a vehicle is stolen it becomes salvaged, and since im a private party (not a dealer) im shit outta luck. haha. the car got some good use though. it had 170k miles on it, with a totally stock 5MGE and only a valve job and regular oil changes
