hey guys. I am a new supra owner. bought a 89 turbo targa yesterday. its pretty tight.. 183 xxx kms. has new HG w/ arp bolts, 3" exhaust, and shimmed wastegate w/ boost gauge (at 10 psi). anyways. i have a few problems w. the supra.
1. occasionally it wont turn over when i go to start it. i turn the key and nothing. or i turn the key, and a second later it cranks (delayed). if i keep trying eventually it cranks and starts.
2. today when driving the car was hesitating around 1200-1500 occasionaly. happened maybe 10 times in an hour. it would kinda just bog down. wouldnt be a consistant bogging, but just once, almost as if the tranny missed a shift, but it felt more like the engine. and then, once when i was slowing down to a red light it bogged and died and then i couldnt get it to start. I kept trying to start it. Put it into drive, park, neutral, then back to park, and kept trying, eventually it cranked, and it drove fine the rest of the way home.
i am guessing it is a shitty connection somewhere under the hood relating to the starter but also in connection with the car to keep running, or in the ignition. the car once had a 1jz and was swapped back to 7mgte, so maybe during the swap some wire had a shitty connection?
any hints on where to start??
thanks guys. any help is really appreciated. and i am fully aware that i am newb. i will also be (and have been) doing lotsa reading.
