Hi... i'm not sure what i'm doing i'm only new to this site...
i have just purchased a Toyota Supra 1989 Turbo. I live in australia, and because of the laws... i need to take the turbo off my car ):
i am wondering if anyone has done it????
i have a computer and engine harness off the non turbo supra... there is one plug under the dash that isn't in the non turbo engine harness... does anybody know what that plug is??

if the car was sold from the factory with a turbo i dont see why it would need to be removed... holy crap. unless it was converted to turbo...:aigo:

they should've never let the car(s) to be imported into the country from the first place. And i'm talking about the turbo edition guys. =D

I don't think you understand what the concept is, it's for first time drivers to prevent them getting into high powered cars until they have some driving experience.

oh ok... i'd say just grab another car and go from there until they lift that bar from you... i had to wait almost two years to get another supra. it sucks but you gotta do it unless you really want to go through with all that work. its completely up to you.

There is a Gympie in QLD and also in VIC... Just checking ;)

Rules for QLD (from QLD Transport):

High-powered and performance vehicles include those with:

eight or more cylinders
a turbo-charged or super-charged engine that is not diesel powered
an engine that has a power output of more than 200 kW as per the manufacturer's specifications
a rotary engine that has an engine capacity of more than 1146cc as per the manufacturer's specifications
a modified engine that must be approved under the Transport Operations (Road Use Management – Vehicle Standards and Safety) Regulation 1999, section 30.
The following vehicles are exempt and can be driven:

Suzuki Cappuccino 2D Cabriolet Turbo 3 657-698cc (1992 - 1997)
Daihatsu Copen L880 2D Convertible Turbo 4 659cc (2003 or later)
Smart fortwo coupe 2D Turbo 3 698cc (2000 or later)
Smart fortwo Cabriolet Turbo 3 2D 698cc (2000 or later)
Smart Roadster Turbo 3 2D 698cc (2000 or later).

Google said so... Could be wrong... (I just did a quick search coz I had no idea where Gympie was!)

Regardless, no mention of power to weight in either state's rules... He really should have checked the rules before buying the car...
