Regulator should be set between 33-40 psi with vac off.

How do you know it's running lean?

The fuel air ratio gauge that's in there, and goes from yellow which is equivalent to 14 to red which is and bounces back and fourth when idling but when I hit the gas the engine falls on its face and if I rev it up and take my foot off it dies also

If this car is new to you, the first thing I would do is a compression check. Once you know the cylinders are good you can go from there. First thing first compression check. Especially if it's has a 7m that someone wants to get rid of.

Sounds like it has a air fuel ratio gauge which is not a wide band and just goes off the stock o2 sensor.

Buy a wideband and then see what your afr are.

Don't go buying a maf if you don't need one. They aren't cheap. If you are all stock on the car you don't need a wideband. Just saw you had a fpr.

I would check for any codes.

If no codes and compression is good. I would start with new plugs and wires.

You probably need to replace valve cover gaskets anyway.

You should also replace all dry and hard hoses on engine. IMO good luck.

with the car running, unplug the maf. then try to give it some revs. it should act the same as the symptoms you're describing.
also, you definitely don't need a wideband on a stock car.

You cannot start to modify a car that does not run properly. Ok that is not true, you can, but that is a very bad idea.

Sounds like you have money to burn so go ahead and start with one of the most expensive EFi components. Heck get a new CPS and TPS oh don't forget THW sensor. Wait forgot new ignitor and coils.

Then throw a bunch of mods why you are at it. You could end up with a bunch of new parts and a car that still does not run properly.

Or maybe start with some time reading the EFI section of the TSRM. Just an Idea. They even have these things called flow charts to help. IMO.

Good luck. Ever hear about the horse and water story?
