Just received this bushings set in the mail from Marlin Crawler. I got the top one on fine, but I can't fit the bottom one in. The two little cylinder things where you insert the shifter are in the way. How can I fit it in? I've tried using a hammer, pretty much everything, it just won't fit. What did you guys do to get it to work?

you kinda put one side in, and bend it slightly with a screwdriver to get it past
the othe TAB on the other side. It's a pain tho. like useing an old fashioned
shoe horn to slip it past the pin, and then it'll pop itself into place. Of course
you have to make sure your old bushing is out, but I figured you already did that
but just in case.

Yeah, I did that. I'm trying everything. I'm gonna try a pair of pliers (sp?), to squeeze it down abit, then try to fit it in.

some grease helps here too...I managed to get mine in with no problems, it should have a little flex to it. I also put some grease on the top of it so it would be nice and smooooth :)

I inserted it in the half that hasn't any cylinders and pushed it in till it got to the bottom, and then slided it forward, so it bended and slipped in... dunno, seemed strange in the beginning , but went in like with half a minute i guess

Bump, don't know if you still need help on this but here I go. You see the two notches in the top of the bushing? Good, align the notches so the "Cylinders" as you put it go into the notches. Then you pivot the bushing around the cylinders while keeping the cylinders in the notches. (Kinda like what he said.^) Hope that helped.

Just for the record (I know this is an old thread), these seem harder to get in in the W58... smaller diameter? I just lightly sanded the edges on mine and it went in with minimal effort and has zero play.

^ Don't know I just kinda regurgitated the info I gathered from his site. I ordered both bushings and am gonna try to replace them soon.

If you have any trouble with it, gimme a call. Been there done that. :naughty:

Oh, and getting on the bushing (the small one) takes some force.

I've also heard of the "green" Toyota bushing being used. Does anyone know if these have any other added benefit over the Marlin Crawler one???

It's softer and easier to get in... probably absorbs some vibration, but I doubt you'd notice.

I really don't know if there's a difference to the smaller one. On my shifter the smaller one that was present when I went to install both parts from Marlin-Crawler looked about the same. Didn't feel any softer. I can't say for sure that it was stock, but if it wasn't whoever put it in missed the fact that the seat had all but disintegrated.

The green seat is softer, from what I'm told. I can't recall if it's rubber. It can be easier to get in though in some cases.

The Marlin Crawler seat goes in just fine for some and with some work for others, as I said I had to lightly sand around the outside edge a bit before I could get mine in.
