I had a strange problem happen this morning on my way to work. I stomped on the gas & the motor sputtered due to a bad O2 sensor, and as it did, the low beams & the driving lights went out. The highbeams still work, so thankfully I was able to get to work & back. I checked both of the fuse & they were good, but if I'm not mistaken, the headlights do have a relay, correct? If so, were is it located & how can I check it?

The headlight relays are under the hood.

the real relay you're looking for is the integration relay #2 that's about the size of a pack of cigarettes and it's right under the dash (it's blue)

sounds like the issues I had, had to replace that damn box (went to the junkyard as it's expensive from the dealer)

If his fog lights aren't rewired they'll go out with the headlights from either a bad integration relay #2 or a bad headlight relay.

I am at CRC. You can stop by tomorow afternoon, which is supposed to be an empty free day. But you know how that goes. I don't have an EWD with me of course.

You're here on Benning? At the CONUS Replacement Center?

Coming through Atlanta? I'll buy you lunch.

He's flying out today, I'm trying to get over to see him before he does. The shitty thing is he's less than 2 miles away from me but I might not make it over before he goes.....:nono:

Is the integration relay #2 marked "Retractor Control", with a part # 85964-20012-061700-2120?1

Yeah, I don't know the p/n off the top of my head, but it's a blue box labeled "Retractor Control".

I have just been through this same exact problem and replaced everything to do with the lights (relays, wiring, etc.) before I got to the real problem. And it's the second time this has happened in about a year.

Both times it turned out to be a bad combination switch. I didn't even consider it the second time around as I had already replaced the combo switch and thought it can't be the switch again! Wrong.

Appearantly, they're a tad delicate, and if you changed your steering wheel as I had, and you weren't super gentle, you may have F'd the combo switch up. I was told by Toyota dealer this is common.

Also, both times I unsuccessfully tried to find the source of the problem within the switch. I could not find the problem. I'm not an electrical expert but I'm not a retard either and I looked everyplace on the switch and connections and came up craps.

I hope that helps.

you cen eliminate the combination switch as being the cause byt jumpign the pins where the combination switch plugs in (they're all listed in the electrical parts diagrams...)
