ok guys here is my story. my hg just blew and im pretty sure it was from detonation. it was on the back cylinder between the back water jackets, it just bent them alittle. caused from low octane gas in my car.(long story) keep in mind im a machinist. i finally got my hg in (compostite). i only plan on bpu so maybe 10psi. i have checked my block and my my head has been machined. there both nice and flat. my car got hot but only for a second before i caught it. i cant decide on whether to pull the block to have polished to a nice finish or just lap it. if i do lap it, i dont want all that shit done in my motor. can i just flush the oil several times to get the grit out. i just dont want to be crying in 1000 miles.

The surface needs to be flat more than polished unless you are going MHG. Then you need both.

Make sure you check for coolant leaks thoroughly.
