There is the hose that you replaced, and on that same fitting where it comes out of the head, there is another hose that connect to the coolent pipe that runs from the water pump housing back. There is also the other heater hose that come out of the firewall by the brake booster and connects to the other pipe coming along with the other from the waterpump housing. The other thing and hope that this isn't the case, but it could be the fitting itself coming from the head. It is a large bango type fitting that uses two sealing washers and one those can be leaking or the fitting itself could be corroded and have a small hole in it. The problem with the last two is that the fitting like to get sezied in the head and often break off in the head when you try to remove them to change something.

Refer to the diagram hottscennessey posted. The leak you are describing is in the area where the big banjo fitting attaches with the bolt fitting at the back top of the head correct? If you are absolutely sure the hose clamps are tight, the fitting is likely bad. These have a tendency to rust...to the point where the washers no longer seal the banjo that feeds the return to the water neck.

I'm sorry, but this is a royal PITA to replace :3d_frown:

Hell, you might have to take off the hood for better access. P I T A !!!!
I'd replace the clamps and make sure there is nothing on the tube end that might be allowing a leak. Don't over tighten the clamps,as that can make things worse. Good luck

To the metal hardline that goes around the block...it's the heater return line.

well I'm stumped I just sat in the garage with the car on jackstands with the car running and not a drip leaked from anywhere my buddie sat on the engine and looked behind the motor with a flashlight and couldn't find any leaks ...after that I took it for a ride and pulled in the garage with coolant pouring down the bellhousing and leaking on the ground I can't find this leak could it possibly be a frostplug is there 1 on the back of the motor ????

Wow...that's weird. I just went out to the garage and looked on my old motor, there is a freeze plug below the EGR cooler. You couldn't tell were it was coming from?

I'm gonna try again today I highly dought the freeze plug would just start leaking out of the blue in summer ..it's gotta be one of those lines that takes full pressure to leak

Well still leaking any thoughts?

The only other line is the heater return on the drivers side...it's the hose that goes down from the firewall.

yeah that's the only one I haven't replaced I don't seen how you get to it with the head on

Yeah - it's a PITA to get to as well. You will likely have to remove the EGR valve to get to where it connects to the hard line coming from around the block. You won't have to remove the head though.

Any of you guys thought about coolanr resv. overflowing during a drive and letting the coolant go? Check your Temp gauge durring the drive ... does your engine overheats? ... if not ... forgive me ... mea culpa :D

bump for this, I'm having the same problem here. Just changed head gaskets, and have about 300miles+ on it since it was done. I'm also leaking back of the head, it drips right around the tranny fluid box under the car. It has done it three times, its like a all or nothing kind of leak.

The first time i warmed the car up for like 30 seconds (usually do for 2, 3 minutes) and went off. Parked it and came out hr later and found a one ft around puddle. Then 2nd time same thing basically happened.
Then yesterday it happened again. I checked the easily accessible stuff and cant find a leak from the coolant plug side of engine, banjo port that goes up, or from the brake booster. Its getting annoying because its once a week, and I think its messing up my neutral safety switch (i had it replaced in March) because it gets wet with coolant around it and sometimes my car wont crank and ill have to wait a little and roll it in neutral... any suggestions will be great, plz no pulling apart the head suggestions hehe I just did that and dont have the time or money for that. thanks,

you guys cant tell where its coming from? Id think there would be some fluid on the line or engine, or somewhere near wherever its leaking.
