I plan to go to the indy meet this weekend, so I've been getting stuff lined out in my 90t. There's been alot of engine work done the past few weeks including new oil pan (old one was hammered, literally), ball joints, cps cover & seal, ABS sensors, tranny service, fuel filter, rear dif service, synthetic oil & filter, and new valve cover gaskets. Last week, the hood was up and the car was running. I "dropped" the hood down to close it, and the car died. <sigh> Got in, the car turned right over. Turned it off and left. Came back that evening, I could get the car to turn over but not run. It was like someone was pulling the plug on it. I checked all the connections on top. Car started and ran fine for the next week, although I didn't drive it much. Its at the shop today to get an exhaust leak identified and fixed (downpipe!), and the guy calls says the supra turns over but won't start, they can't pull it into the garage. I stop by, gave it the evil eye, and it started right up. The mechanic suggests carrying a spare igniter with me to Indy. Any other suggestions? What else would be sensitive to the jarring of the hood closing?
I did see the post about checking the tach when starting to see if the igniter is getting a signal. But I'm down to the wire here for the Indy trip, and I want to be prepared..
PS: can't guarantee the evil eye will work for YOUR car!
