I have a 89 turbo supra that I just got done putting together. I replace the pistons and a new metal head gasket. After putting everthing together, my car won't start. The car cranks but don't start and it back fires from the intake manifold back out. I have both fuel and spark coming from the car but won't start. I think it might be my timing but I retimed it twice already but still the same. It could also be that my spark plug wires are hook up wrong, please tell me the order the spark plug wires are in. From the coil I have the spark plug wire hook up in this order (from left to right on the coil) 1-6-3-4-2-5. Is this the correct order? Also this is how I timed my car, I crank the crank pully to the O mark and lined up the two cam gears with the mark on the top. Than I connected the belt and rotate the crank a few time clockwise to see if the alignment on both the cams and crank pully are still lined up.

Please let me know what you guys think, thanks.

that's correct on how to set the BASE timing. you need to set the ignition timing after that. (10* BTDC) here's how to do the IGN timing:

place a jumper wire in the terminals T1 and TE1 in the diagnostic block, hook up a timing light, one lead to positive battery post, other to negative, and the pickup to the #6 spark plug wire.

start the car (making sure that no wires are in the way of belts, fans, pulleys, etc...) crack loose the one bolt holding the CPS stationary,(keep it relatively snug so it wont move) press the trigger on the timing light and watch the notch on the crank pulley, and turn the CPS until it matches the 10* mark on the timing cover. :)

the cylanders are numbered 1-6 from front to back. on the coilpacks, they're numbered like this: 1-6-3-4-2-5

sounds like maybe your CPS isnt installed properly.
