any suggestions about how to do this (replacing gasket)

my ideas are

1. pull motor
2. drop front cross frame/ rack and pinion (would someone tell me what the correct term is for this?)

any input is highly appreciated :icon_bigg

Well, you have the options pretty much listed there. If you want to lower the subframe then you can follow the TSRM instructions.

Many people feel that pulling the motor is easier and many feel that the subframe is easier, you can pick either one you think would be better for you to do. Either one isn't really what I would call a quick and easy job though.

If you pull the motor out you might as well go through it and replace rod&main bearings, hone with rings, and valve job. Possibly replace your clutch, pressure place, resurface flywheel, and pilot bearing. It would be a shame to have it out and not do those things.

Or just drop the subframe and do the oil pan gasket.

it's a jdm motor w/ 19k miles... and the clutch is new, and it has a top end re-build on it (arp head studs and greddy timing belt too)
