Hey guys,

as some of you might know from supraforums, I have been having some issues with my car (1990 Turbo).

I will start at the beginning...

Yay, iridium plugs arrive in the mail! They get installed, and the car runs stellar. I can't remember a time when the car felt so potent.

Then about a month goes by driving it like a grand-ma. Then one night I get on it, and when the rps get up (4kish, and beyond) at wot, she starts sputtering a bit. Well, then about a week later I notice a LOT of smoke coming from my exhaust during warmup. NOTE: NOT when I start it, and NOT when its at operating temp. Only from when the guage hits the C, until almost full operating temp.

WEll, the smoke smells like gas and oil. The car always rana little rich (LEx and 550's untuned). Then I see that my gas milage is getting real bad. I replaced the O2 sensor due to code 21 in the cpu. That helped, now I get almost 20mpg mix of highway and city. But thats still not up to par. Should be getting about 23 maybe 22

Well, Ive been poking around the car a bit, and noticed a leaking hose (the pcv hose from the TB that meets the cam covers. I fix that. Well, car still sputters at WOT @ high rpm. (It will pull from the low rpms at wot with no sputtering.)

Tonight, I took off the bov section (fender to 3000 pipe) and there is OIL in my intake tubing. I was standing there holding that section and oil starting fripping out of it onto the ground.

My PCV system does NOT re-circulate into the intake tubing, so that is NOT the reason for the oil.

Is it my turbo?
Yes? No? <-- I would think that it would have to be.

IF so, would a bad oil seal in the turbo cause you to sputter at WOT @ high rpms? (this is an important question) Plz answer this even if none others.

Now, again, if its the turbo, wheres the good place to get one for 450rwhp target area? little lag (not a big fan of lag,) and not too pricey, yet reliable?

Thanks
James

Turbo is unlikely... unless it's spitting so much oil that it's too much to burn. If that were the case, your IC would have a lot of oil in it as well.

I'd suggest pulling off the IC, stand it up on end in a bucket, and see how much oil comes out.

If it's the turbo, IMO the best bet for 450 to the wheels is an upgraded and rebuilt stock turbo. It will cost you a fair bit less than a completely new unit, too.
