Help!!! Hit the red line now its missing bad!!!

Hey guys while i was test driving the car, I hit the red line 3-4 times and it started missing right after it. Now i have done this;
1. changed to new spark plugs and i have brand new ngk wires
2. did compression test and all are at 172 (did a full engine rebuild 2 months ago)
3. set timing 3-5 times just to make sure its set right and still the same.
4. the coils are all firing

Now noticed when i got home that same day of the problem, plugs 2-6 were smoked black and #1 was clean . After i installed the new plugs the same thing is happening 2-6 are smoked and 1 is clean

Guys what do you guys think it might be? Has anybody had similar problems?
Im here in Houston and my supra is my daily driver plz any help would be appreciated thanks

black or covered in oil????

if theres oil then valve covers, if its just blacked then I honestly don't know, could maybe be running too rich in those cylinders or maybe something else is afoot, not to sure man I'm sure IJ or JetJock could chime in some good info on this one.

sounds similar to a problem I just had...

bad coil, my 2-5 coil was bad. It'd fire on 2, but not 5. Try swapping the coils around to see if the bad cylinder moves around. one good way to tell is to pull the injector clip on the cylinder and see if the car keeps missing or gets worse.

bad wiring, the 4 pin connector to the coil pack harness had become brittle and broke, had to rewire and bypass with some mickey mouse wiring. It works, but looks funky.

One question, on your clean spark plug, do you smell gas? Maybe something up with your injectors?

Also, how did you check for spark?

Well to check for spark i just disconected one wire at a time and made sure it was firing, but made no difference. The car runs but you could hear the miss through out the rpms. The smoked out plugs had no oil on em, i replaced every part on my engine and took my time putting it together. All new pistons,rings, oil pump, waterpump, all seals , bearings, new belts,whole engine gasket set head was rebuilt and new seals were installed. The car was running fine for almost 2 months now, then one afternoon i hit the red line and it took a shit on me. Theres no engine codes yet im gonna take it for a drive around the block to see if it throws any codes. The injectors that i have are 550 cc from 87 rx7 fresh rebuilt and flowtested. This weekend a friend of mine here in houston is gonna let me borrow a igniter, coilpack , cps, afm, and the engine computer from his wrecked 89t to see it any of those parts would be the problem. The engine ecu in my car does have 250,000 on it along with the air flow meter. Im running out of ideas help!!!:1zhelp:

Thanks 1J for merging the threads, guys has any of you had the problems when hittin red line. The head just had the valves seated, cleaned , decked for mhg and new valvestems.

ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As of yesterday night my supra lives again.:icon_bigg The damn connector for the coilpack on the ecu harness was broken off and the CPS wires need to be rewired. After a few Coronas it was all taken care off now i have to rewire both connectors correctly. Thanks for the support guys...I was thinking about buying a AEM tru boost controller any of you guys have it ??Then off to the dyno and ill post some numbers with dyno sheets...

I know damn wires im gonna see if i can find another CPS cause mine is leaking oil inside of it. Im gotta find an electronic boost controller and im all set for the dyno. I hope to get into the 430rwhp/rwtq area. Before my 550 inectors and front mount intercooler i dynoed 377rwhp at 1 bar but was at 14a/f ratio too lean. so backed down to 13 psi and dynoed 355rwhp and 375rwtq so im hoping that at 18-20 psi i can reach mid 450 rwhp.

when my afm wiring was not 100%, i could shut the hood to turn the car off ;)


14a/f is just scary. poor piston tops getting the shit beat out of them by detonation
