Just got a great deal on an 87 turbo. Fresh rebuild, new crank pistons rods bearings, rebuilt head and ct-26, 1.2 mm MHG etc.
Great deal but its not running, it will turn over and fire (run) for about 5-10 seconds then quit. When it is running it sounds fine.
Here's what I've checked, all harness plugs, vacuum lines and intercooler piping, checked grounds and it has gas in the tank :icon_bigg .
I'm thinking bad AFM or a fuel pressure kind of problem????

Just got it a few hours ago and I plan on hitting it again tomorrow so I am just looking for ideas.

Yes I searched and no this isn't my first Supra, just need help brainstorming through the list of things I need to check, so I would appreciate helpful posts only:biglaugh:

Thanks

check and clean idle air control valve, make sure it's carbon free. Also, make sure you are keeping fuel pressure. Check for it immediately after motor dies.

this problem is most commonly either.. A) something wrong with fuel pump or fuel pump circuit B) CPS, usually improper installation.

of course i'd check the CPS first.

Thanks guys, CPS it was, wiring was toast where it runs over the head. Spliced new wires in and it ran great until the dreaded BHG hit!!!!!!! Motor was supposed to be rebuilt with a greddy MHG but I'm guessing it wasn't prepped right. It's hooked up to the hoist now and it will be on the engine stand tomorrow morning to see what the hell the last owners did to it. Chocolate milk oil and compression test numbers that would make ya sick...................
