I just wanted to say hi.
Currently I own an '88 N/A Supra Hardtop 5 speed. However it has rodknock and is currently waiting for me to acquire the funds to buy a 7mge and attempt to fix it.
I will not lie, I do not know too much about cars. When I bought this car (at the age of 16, with my own money if it matters) it ran, and about two years later I heard the infamous knocking sound coupled with overheating. I was driving when I heard the knocking sound and immediatley attempted the drive home (which is when the overheating occured). It still ran after that, but I only started it when a friend of the family came over who also happened to be a car mechanic
This thread is not about my supra necessarily but rather just me making an introduction.
As I said earlier I do not know much about cars, however I, for lack of a better phrase, really want to learn. I have decided to attempt this swap myself when the time and money permits. The way I figure, I don't know if I can hurt the car much more so at least I can make the attempt. Its not like I can make it not run more. They say the best way to learn is by doing. So I have read as much as I can, and will continue to do so as I also take apart the supra and learn about it.
I just wanted to say hello, and I have long read many of the threads. I decided to become a member because I just think it would be easier if I could use the search function. That or I was too stupid to find it earlier.
Thank you.
