Hello everyone im new to the site (this is actualy the first automotive forum i've ever joined), this seems to be the best supra forum around i'm glad to join you guys here in the sm community, it's a cool atmosphere here with a wealth of knowledge/helpful people and i really appreciate all the maturity/respect/proffesionalism that you experienced guys and moderators exhibit here, and i'll try to conduct myself in the same manner. I've been lurking around for a little while now tryin to study up and stuff and figured i'd introduce myself since you have this nifty intro section. :wavey:

My name's Rob, i'm 22 and i live in a small town in central Minnesota, I have a grey '88 N/A targa top supra thats completely stock with just under 100k miles on it (see pics below). A friend picked it up for me in Washington state like 2 years ago while he was visiting his dad, it had a BHG and had been sitting in some dudes yard for a while (not sure how long). My friend and his dad fixed the HG and im not sure how or what all they did to it but when he got here with it had a mint body and almost mint paint, it was running great and the engine bay looked like practicaly new out of the factory. Well anyway i drove it for like 6 months and then the main seals started to go and it was losing oil constantly and wouldn't hold oil presure and it started knocking and smoking some, so i parked it in my parents yard till i could figure out what to do.

sorry these are the only pics i have right now

So now my parents want it out of their yard and people keep askin if i want to sell it :nono: so i gotta do somethin with it, heh heh.
Im certainly not a mechanic, i have done very little work on cars before (mainly just helping other people with stuff), i'm kinda wet behind the ears as far as automotive knowledge goes i guess, and i have just somewhat recently started learning everything i could about the mkIII, and tryin to figure out the best thing to do with my car, and so that's why i'm here. My buddy that got me the car though is fairly mechanicaly inclined/knowledgeble and pretty good with hondas and dsm engines and has lots of work & several engine and tranny swaps under his belt, although he doesn't really have any experience with toyotas (other than doin the HG job with his dad) or with engine internals and stuff, but he has a garage and most of the tools we need and is helping me (or i'm helping him :icon_conf) with this project.
I've been thinkin it over alot and researching it, and weighing all my options and i have decided based on availability and price of parts and labor, and my mechanical knowledge and budget, to swap out my failing 7mge with a 7mgte rather than try to rebuild/replace it. I just ordered a complete jdm engine from naganojapanese.com on the 24th for $1150 shipped and now im trying to round up all the stuff i'm gonna need to prep the engine and swap it in.
And thats about where im at right now, waitin for the engine to get here to find out what's in store for me i guess. Thanks for your your interest and readin my intro and stuff, i'll probly be sein ya around.

Hi I'm new too.
He means he's new to your thread................:biglaugh:

I must say, you really know how to make an appearance. I for one really appreciate your use of complete sentences, capitalization, and punctuation. I also really like that you didn't start off with, "Yo, bitches, was up?"

I'm not the smartes tool in this shed by a long shot, but you can always pm me with any questions and if I can't answer it, I'll make something up to make me sound smarter and then send you in the right direction.

Welcome to Supramania and I'm sure you'll find all the info you need.
