Hey, just figured I'd introduce myself! I decided to join the site because I have always found supras to be amazing cars, especially mkIII's. I am in the process of purchasing one that is on hold as soon as I sell my current car. It feels like I am finally realizing (fulfilling) the dream of owning a turbocharged, and respected car. I have enjoyed the wealth of information this site has provided so far and look forward to this purchase going well, and hopefully getting to join in on meets and track days (if there are any on the mid-east coast, bleh... :1zhelp:)
Anyone else realize the lack of good tracks or strips in hampton roads? ::hang::

I have to say, that video is the greatest thing I have ever seen for new posters. Lurking is great, until you get the delete message if you don't post... :biglaugh:

Welcome sir and good luck selling your cobalt. I doubt you'll have much luck selling it here though.

Thank you both. I am not trying to sell it here, why would anyone want to go from a supra to a slobalt? I do hope it all goes well though. I would then have roughly $4K to put into new parts for the mkIII. Maybe paint it black. It is a white 89 with the sport top, power everything, new 7mgte and tranny with 38K miles on them. The body has 170K, but it is in great condition. Needs a new starter, and I will have to clean the MAF since some idiot put motor oil on the k&n filter..... No other problems though, boosts fine. The only mod is a $1,500 3" turbo back on it. Leaves more room for me to customize! :naughty:

PS: Dark side indeed, I'm so sick of my chevy! I am never buying another domestic... My girlfriend has a mazdaspeed3, but even their base model sedan 3 has a better interior than I do. Hell, even a civic base has a better interior. I love leather seats, but I will trade for suede inserts and rubberized dash over hollow, cheap plastic any day...

Hello, and let me give you some advise. Do not clean the MAF sensor. You will need to get a new one which is $$$ or get a used one in working condition. Our MAF sensors do not take kindly to cleaning.

I do appreciate the advice, but why would it not take to cleaning well? Is there a better compound than the regular spray, maybe something more gentle that I could use? If necessary, I will buy a new one. I hope to have a bit left over from the cobalt sale to replace any needed OEM or aftermarket parts. I do know I will be changing the suspension, adding strut bars, changing the BOV, adding a Boost Controller, adding a new boost gauge, AFR gauge, and a few other small things including clear corner lenses.
I am hoping to make 300-350 whp (of course this includes the metal head gasket and head studs as well) with the BPU's once I am finished. I think more is unnecessary in a street car, but if I get there and need it, at least the car will be able to handle it. Oh, can't forget the new 1st gear washer for the R154 tranny. I am really looking forward to working with this car and restoring/upgrading it to a respectable level. I ended up going out with a mazda crew (my girlfriend has a 310hp/325trq mazdaspeed3) saturday night and got to see what it was like being part of a group that knows and understands their cars.
I gave up on the honda scene a few years ago... I was tired of all the ricer BS... Don't get me wrong, I've seen nice hondas I like and some that are fast but... wings of doom? Really... :3d_frown: :biglaugh:

Pics of the AVCR, supra, and other things coming soon. Don't worry :naughty: We (forcefedsupra and another guy) were out at the Pungo drift competitions today, so we have some good pics. Would have run myself, but I now have the whine of death and a 20 year old suspension. Met a MKIV who didn't know what compressor surge was though (and he had it big time) :biglaugh: so we helped him out. Those pics are coming though so bear with me!

OK, OK, so you're not just another guy... You're my honorary bitch. Feel better? So got the new turbo, brakes/pads, intake, hard pipes, avc-r, and greddy bov (borrowing the pipes and bov for now) on. Love the car! 10 psi feels good!

BTW the timing was at 17 degrees, and we changed it to 15 (the cps has jumped a tooth so it's there until we change that and get it to 10 degrees). Holy crap does a 2 degree change make a difference! There's that missing pull, glen!
