I'm new here. Names AJ. I'm from the Chicago area. Just picked up an '89 Cressida as a project a few weeks ago. The car needs a new motor and some general lovin' but hopefully she'll be up and running soon... This will be my first 7m, so I'm looking forward to picking up some good info here on the forums.

And I'm still undecided on which direction to go... The car had a BHG (surprise) when I bought it, and it looks like the previous owner probably kept driving it anyway, because the head is BADLY warped. Like 11/1000th's out of spec.

I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to rebuild the whole thing, or if I should just look into a swap. I'm in the process of trying to educate myself on the many different options.

I'll keep it a 7m regardless since I'm already going to be buying a w58 swap from a friend, I just need to decide on rebuilding vs replacing and if I want to stay n/a or go GTE. I don't have any crazy goals for the car, just trying to build something fun/reliable on a budget.

Sweet. W58 can be used on the 1j as well. Just shouldnt be pushed much past stock.

7mgte would be a lot cheaper tho as there is so many spare 7m parts laying around.
