Headlight Washer=Intercooler Spray?

I had an idea to convert the headlight washer to a intercooler spray. It seems that this would be pretty easy, all the tubing, wiring pump, everything is already there! Anybody tried this or heard about it? If I do it, I think I would find some nozzles that spray a wider pattern, more of a mist. Tell me what you think.

yea kind of sucks when my model year doesnt have that available, how much would it cost to buy the system off a junker and how much crap do i have to go through to add that little button next to the emergency flashers?

i dun care for intercooler sprayer not like it will do much to a 7psi motor but just curiouse if anyone has ADDED the button.

well what i did was i went out and bought a brand new windshield washer assembly and installed it right in front of the radiator. then i ran the wiring to my cabin where i took out that little coin holder on the left hand side and installed a button in there by drilling a small circle out and then soldering the wires together. then i took the hose and ran it at the bootom of my bumper and diretcted them up so they would hit the intercooler...its a pretty fun mod and only took me about 20 buck and about 45 min to do everything...works wonders on hot days.

the motor of your washer assembly has a T off, and since you dont have the washer sprayers for tha headlights, its capped off, all u hav to do is run a hose...its actually fairly simple...

does the supra have 2 pumps for the washer system?1 for the front and 1 for the back? if so,just use the outlet tube that goes to the rear washer sprayers, that wiper, sprayer system is pretty useless anyways! and THEN you could use the stock button to spray the missssters

The head light washer is really easy to get to, it's just annoying to have to put the headlights up to spray. I'm working on rewiring the system, but I'm not to good at electrical. If anybody wants to figure out how to do the rewire, please let us know.

i just bought my car like two months ago, and i tried to wash the windows one day and it didnt work. The obvious problem was no fluid so i added more and tried again. Didnt work, however there was fluid all over the ground so i figured my line was cracked. So today i get under the car and find the hose running under the front bumber and i was like wtf? So i had my dad come out and hit the wiper fluid button. Turns out the hose goes into two and i have dual sprayers on the intercooler. i thought that was a nice little find on my supra.

Does it really make a difference though because i would return the lines to stock because winters in chicago suck and i would definitly need the fluid on the windshield itself. Any way to have both?

Hey, hey. This morning I decided to finally put this thing together. I went to Home Depot and raided their plumbing department. I got some 1/4 in irrigation hose, some T connectors, some 90 degree elbows, and four 1/4 pattern spray nozzles with pressure adjustments. I disconnected the headlight washer hose off of where it goes into the top nose piece and routed it down to the bottom side of the front bumper. I then stoped up the loose end by bending it back 180 degrees and ziptied it in place. I then punched a small hole in it and plumbed in one of the T connectors. From the connector I ran hose with two more T pipes and two elbows. on top of the other T pipes and elbows I connected the spray nozzles.

As for wiring, you can make the washers go without the head lights up by splicing the violet/another color wire (sorry, I forgot what the other color was) from the washer button to the white with black ground wire from the cigarette lighter. This will make the pump go when ever you push the botton.

Pretty easy install, and really fun to play with. Gets the intercooler nice and wet. Now I just need a hot day to test it.

Pics when I get the time to upload them.

Sweet! Nice work Furball.

I've been planning to do this mod because I have the system for the headlight sprayer on my car, but "header" -- the upper bumper piece with the nozzles -- on my car was replaced with a non-sprayer one.

So I have the system in place, might as well use it for something. :)

One thing I didn't mention yesterday, you will need a siphon break if you don't want to leak all the water out of the resivoir. I used the T connection from inside the upper nose piece to make an air chamber. If you route the water path through two of the branches and then cap off the last branch you will make a break that will keep the lines from holding pressure if the pump isn't going. This causes the siphon effect to fail. The branch that is caped off must be above the water path or the pressure won't drop. The first picture attached shows the siphon break and the next one shows the routing a bit more. The other pics show the install from the right, left, and the center connection. Have fun!

P.S. I don't want to toot my own horn here, but should this be made into a FAQ?
